Physicians at Grupo Medicina da Coluna are technically qualified to use the technique of percutaneous spine surgery. To achieve this specialization, doctors Jefferson Galves and Wallace Marion attended na international course in Colombia, of high international prestige. In Brazil, the group has already conducted several successful procedures.
According to Dr. Jefferson Galves, with this new technique the surgery is done through the skin with local anesthesia. With that, the patient doesn´t need general anesthesia and practically watch everything is happening. Moreover, the recovery of this type of surgery is much quicker. Now the patient has a herniated disc surgery, for example, and leaves the room only with a Band-Aid on surgical site, said the doctor. |
