Disc Degeneration
With advancing age, we can observe the drying and dehydration of intervertebral discs, mainly in the nucleus pulposus. This degenerative process, called disc degeneration, makes the nucleus pulposus to become brittle and lose elasticity. As the degeneration progresses, the intervertebral discs undergo a flattening and its ability to absorb the movements decreases, causing pain in the degenerated disc, and contribute to the formation of Herniated Disc, causing pain in the buttocks and lower limbs and may limit movement of the patient.
Treatment
Several techniques can be used in the treatment of Disc Degeneration: manual physiotherapy, electronic traction table, spinal stabilization, weight lifting and pilates. |
